THE HAROLD INTENSIVE
The Harold is a classic improv format that is often referred to as “the Grandfather of longform improvisation”. Originally created by combining short form games with narrative scenes, this format was developed further by Del Close at iO Chicago, where it became an organic, flowing show that follows a specific structure of group games and scenes.
This 9-Hour intensive course is an in-depth exploration into the structure, patterns, themes, and stories that make up The Harold. By combining ideologies from iO Chicago, UCB, and Narrative Improvisation, we will use the structure of The Harold to help us find new ways to energize and improve our improv brains and impulses that we can apply to all formats and structures.
*This course culminates with a Showcase at ComedyO’Connell’s on May 31st.
